Szegő and para-orthogonal polynomials on the real line: Zeros and canonical spectral transformations

We study polynomials which satisfy the same recurrence relation as the Szegő polynomials, however, with the restriction that the (reflection) coefficients in the recurrence are larger than one in modulus. Para-orthogonal polynomials that follow from these Szegő polynomials are also considered. With positive values for the reflection coefficients, zeros of the Szegő polynomials, para-orthogonal ...

The Fekete – Szegő theorem with splitting conditions : Part

A classical theorem of Fekete and Szegő [4] says that if E is a compact set in the complex plane, stable under complex conjugation and having logarithmic capacity γ(E) ≥ 1, then every neighborhood of E contains infinitely many conjugate sets of algebraic integers. Raphael Robinson [5] refined this, showing that if E is contained in the real line, then every neighborhood of E contains infinitely...

The Sign-Real Spectral Radius for Real Tensors

In this paper a new quantity for real tensors, the sign-real spectral radius, is defined and investigated. Various characterizations, bounds and some properties are derived. In certain aspects our quantity shows similar behavior to the spectral radius of a nonnegative tensor. In fact, we generalize the Perron Frobenius theorem for nonnegative tensors to the class of real tensors.

Exceptional Points for Lebesgue’s Density Theorem on the Real Line

It is a natural problem to investigate the set of what we will call exceptional points for S, i.e. points which are neither density points of S, nor those of R\S. Note that this is a topological notion, since as far as measure theory is concerned, there are no such exceptional points. First, we quantify the notion of exceptional point: given a measurable S ⊂ R and 0 ≤ δ ≤ 1/2, we will call p ∈ ...
